Ideally located on one of the most fabulous sites in the Palisades, this traditional Georgian estate was built in the 1930’s and has been occupied by some Hollywood greats. In need of updating and some TLC, the collaborative efforts of architect/designer, builder, and homeowner were key in creating a contemporary family compound. The kitchen wing was completely gutted and remodeled to better suit an open floor plan, flow, and entertaining. The master suite was also reconfigured, all along being respectful of the classic forms and original elegant details. Objects and materials were salvaged, reinterpreted, and reused throughout. The pool was relocated and redesigned for a larger lawn area and enhanced outdoor living space. By carefully combining the modern and antique, a layering of textures, in conjunction with a consistent refined color palette of white, tan, taupe, grey, and black, a timeless environment and home was created.
