Vendor with Vision

Materials can have such a huge impact on an architect’s vision. Fortunately, we live in a time where companies are constantly pushing the envelope to develop exciting new products that are aesthetically pleasing and also environmentally responsible.

One such company is Custom-Bilt Metals in Irving Texas. Custom-Bilt manufactures metal roofing and gutter systems that are functional, dramatic and environmentally friendly. We used their materials for the Vision House LA project in Pacific Palisades, which worked perfectly with the clean, modern design while adhering to the strict LEED standards required for this project.

CA Home+Design Features Modern Farmhouse

People simply love the “Modern Farmhouse” aesthetic for it’s marriage of simple, contemporary design mixed with casual comfort and rustic charm. This style suits the laid back Southern California lifestyle perfectly, so we thought it appropriate when one of our modern farmhouses in Brentwood was featured in an article for California Home+Design. This spacious, 5 bedroom, 5.5 bath home has all the comforts the word “farmhouse” conjures up, but boasts all the style expected with the $5.9 million price tag. The interior features a cool, neutral palette, large furnishings, and plank floors, all of which seem to invite you to kick off your shoes and enjoy the canyon views! Design with School in Mind

It’s that time of year when busy families get even busier getting their kids to and from school, and school related activities. This is something that is greatly considered when designing a custom home for clients with school aged children. The mud room continues to be a parent pleaser, despite the lack of mud, or even much rain to deal with here in Southern California! While we don’t have cold weather gear or dirty boots to contend with, the Mud Room is really the perfect go-to place for the family to unload laptops, backpacks, books, shoes, jackets and sporting equipment constantly being schlepped to and from the home. Having a dedicated area in the home such as a Mud Room can help keep things more organized, and mess to a minimum, something all families with busy lifestyles can appreciate! Check out a few of our Southern California mudrooms:

Easy Outdoor Living

Thanks to the year-round spectacular weather, we are constantly asked to create fun, outdoor spaces that embrace and take full advantage of the Southern California lifestyle. This means alfresco dining, outdoor entertaining, maximizing ocean or city views and even (not so glamorous) being mindful of the drought!

For this reason, we were thrilled when one of our backyards was featured in an Houzz article titled “10 Low-Maintenance, High-Fun Back Yards.”

While this particular client installed a personal putting green, other clients (golfers and non-golfers alike!) request pools, outdoor fire places, fire pits, balconies, decks, panoramic doors, play houses and outdoor kitchens.
